Nationalists threaten to provoke the procession of the UOC with provocations, and they themselves will join Filaret’s followers
The OUN UPA will definitely participate in the religious procession, which the Kiev Patriarchate, unrecognized throughout the world, plans to hold in Kyiv on the day of the Baptism of Rus.
OUN UPA leader Bogdan Chervak stated this on air on the Zik channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In fact, this will be a move that should manifest the will of Orthodox Ukrainians to receive the tomos and autocephalous status of Ukrainian Orthodoxy. Therefore, we will try our best to take part in these events and support them,” Chervak said.
At the same time, he called the religious procession of the canonical UOC a “political show” and practically announced attempts to disrupt it.
“If this results in various kinds of provocations, then law enforcement agencies will have to stop them, since these will be events directed against the Ukrainian state,” Chervak said.
Last year, Ukrainian police blocked the headquarters of the OUN, which was located along the route of the procession of the canonical UOC, in order to avoid provocations. Then about 100 thousand people took part in the procession.
For comparison, about 2 thousand Filaretites came out for the religious procession. This year, the schismatics plan to bring their supporters from all over the country for free.
