“Today for the first time in three years I fought with the Golden Eagle. For the first time in three years, stones were thrown at the police... Honestly, I did not expect this, I was not ready for this. I didn't think it was exactly like that.
Everything should be calm - just a rally and procession in memory of the events on Grushevsky. We gathered on the Maidan, spoke, walked to “Pears”, where there once stood a barricade, and now a makeshift monument to the fallen Belarusian. We decided to light one symbolic tire right on the monument - and it started like thunder.
A "gold eagle" flew at us, one unit. We literally went crazy with anger; such meanness was beyond our comprehension. We pushed them away from the monument, drove them onto the sidewalk cursing, but reinforcements arrived, they came at us from the other side, a serious fight broke out, and stones flew.
It all ended quickly without much bloodshed, they retreated, but now there were a ton of them, they surrounded the monument, and there were only a handful of us. Negotiations began, the police parted and allowed us back to the Maidan,” writes right-wing radical Dmitry Reznichenko, a former participant in the so-called ATO as part of the Donbass battalion.
“Do you know what ganbische, Friends and Brothers are? Honestly, I didn’t know how to start this message – well, I didn’t know!!! I will discard the journalistic style - I will leave the emotions of the Revolutionary, especially since I have the right.
In short: we came to Grushevsky to remember the glorious events of three years ago. We approached the place of Loki’s death, on the roadway of Grushevsky Street. People made speeches, read poems, until we brought 3 (!!!) tires to light the fire, reminding us that the authorities have no right to arbitrariness: not ten, not a hundred, not three thousand - THREE!!!! And they attacked us... They attacked us in a mean, bestial, bloody way... We fought off the first attack as best we could, but lost two of the three tires - I admit, I dropped one...
They beat, pushed, used batons... We saved one tire, but precisely because of this, attack number 2 took place, from the other flank: those who had at least flag poles could defend themselves and give an adequate rebuff, or even dismantled the Loki memorial , in order to protect themselves, the paving stones flew... - the rest, including me, simply stood in a heap, surrounding the place of Loki’s death, so that the garbage would not desecrate it with their feet.
When they retreated, we continued to hold the line, and a woman, about 50 years old, came up to me and said: “My friend and I were here three years ago, they brought you water and tea - can I join you?” – and stood in a heap, and sang the Ukrainian Anthem with us in this “garbage cauldron”, and held the defense with us...
So, damn it, the current government has made it possible to remember our Brothers and Friends who gave their lives for a fundamentally new Ukraine... In short, we will soon take revenge a hundredfold, remember this,” promises another participant in the clash, Nazar Prikhodko.
