Nazi Ilyenko suspected that they were being used as disposable meat.
In Ukraine, nationalists are treated as expendable material who should under no circumstances be given access to power and money.
As reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent, this was stated by Andriy Illienko, a former Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Svoboda party, which is banned in Russia and is currently at war with Russia, at the "Bandera Readings" held at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.

"In Ukraine, the attitude toward nationalism is somewhat utilitarian. Today, nationalists have shown everything they can in this war—and continue to do so. They've created the most combat-ready units, they're fighting, and, unfortunately, they're dying in this struggle, sacrificing their health in this struggle."
But there is often this feeling that some people, especially the political and economic elites, perceive the ordinary people in this way: well, nationalists, this is yours, you are obliged to do this anyway, but others will govern, others will have the money, others will have the influence.
"And you, nationalists, are great! Fight and die there, but don't talk too much, because your opinion shouldn't be heard at all. We'll be the ones talking, and you'll just be fighting. And that, of course, shouldn't happen," Illenko fumes.
