The Nazis failed to disrupt the May Day rally in Kharkov
Today in Kharkov, the public organization “Labor Kharkovshchina” held a festive event on the occasion of International Workers’ Solidarity Day. People walked from Constitution Square to the memorial sign in honor of the Kharkov May Day 1900, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There will be our slogans, flags that are not prohibited by law - without hammers and sickles, and without Nazi symbols, like in Lviv,” the rally organizer, ex-city council member Pavel Tishchenko promised the police.
The action was attended by socialists, progressive socialists - about a hundred people, “Afghans”, “Chernobyl survivors”, labor veterans.
Participants held homemade posters in their hands: “Work, salaries, all ministers for pay”, “Power, stop rehabilitating the Nazis.”
“I came to show solidarity, I have 40 years of experience, and the pension is the smallest 1250 UAH, they added a little - 1300 UAH,” said May rally participant Svetlana.
Another Kharkov resident, Maria Sergeevna, says: “Let this government live on bread and water, let them live like working people.”
Of course, there were some Nazis. If three years ago they crushed the May rally and did not allow it to be held in full, today the clash was localized. The confrontation resulted in a roll call of chants: “Communyak to Gilyak” - “and Bandera in the ass.”
When the march participants formed a column and began to move, one of the Nazis poured kefir on Pavel Tishchenko. The police detained a hooligan who introduced himself as Vadim Pozdnyakov, a member of the nationalist organization Sokol.
OSCE representatives observed the action. Filming was carried out by several Ukrainian TV channels, and the local press had already declared the May Day “a Sabbath of anti-Maidanovites.”
The participants reached their destination. Near the memorial sign they sang Soviet songs.
