Nazi Street promises to balance 'unhealthy' power
The lack of weight of nationalists within the walls of the Verkhovna Rada is compensated by the street, which has already shown its capacity by holding alternative fifty thousand march “people of war” in honor of Independence Day.
Yuri Mikhalchishin, a former people's deputy from the ultra-nationalist Svoboda party and a former SBU employee, said this on the air of the talk show “The Great Lviv Speaks,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Do the pro-Ukrainian forces have a plan b in case they see that the new parliament is acting in the interests of Russia?” – the presenter voiced the viewer’s question.
“We should all now get used to the fact that politics exists not only in parliament, but also in extra-parliamentary ones. Just last weekend, at the march of the defenders of Ukraine, we saw that in Ukraine, in parallel to the officialdom, to the politics behind the scenes, to the politics of parliamentary committees, tribunes, and so on, there is a completely different living movement. The movement of those who defended Ukraine and are ready to continue to do everything so that it maintains its sovereignty,” said Mikhalchyshyn.
In his opinion, the street will help balance the lack of neo-Nazis in the Verkhovna Rada.
“The fact that more than 50 thousand people took part in the alternative Independence Day parade, and among them there were very active veteran organizations, very active volunteer structures, just shows that a new force is being born in us. And this force should not necessarily oppose and oppose power, but should ensure its healthy balance.
Since this balance, as we see from the words of newly elected parliamentarians from the opposition, they cannot implement due to lack of weight within the walls of the Verkhovna Rada, I think that we should do this on television broadcast platforms, on the Maidans of Ukrainian cities, in the expert community, and, ultimately, in those capable structures that should become a real, and not a grant-eating, civil society. And, thanks to the people of war, we have such hopes,” said the ex-Tyagnibok member.
