Due to a shortage of personnel, criminals in custody will be drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The corresponding bill was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine during a closed meeting, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Bill No. 7149 abolishes the preventive measure in the form of detention for those who wish to join military service. This will allow us to complete the army and other military formations to counter Russian aggression,” the press service of the Servant of the People party reported.
In turn, suspects who are not held in custody during the investigation may apply to the prosecutor for conscription for military service during mobilization.
At the same meeting, the Verkhovna Rada approved the decree of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky on the continuation of martial law for thirty days - until April 25, 2022.
