"National Corps" besieged the Rada
In Kyiv, militants of the National Corps, together with foreign fighters, held the “Passport to Volunteer” action under the walls of the Verkhovna Rada.
The protesters demanded the adoption of a law on simplified acquisition of citizenship for foreign citizens who fought in the Donbass on the side of the Ukrainian “volunteer” battalions, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Radicals with the flags of the National Corps, as well as with the banners of Georgia and Belarusian nationalists, besieged the building of the Verkhovna Rada and remained there until the adoption of the bill. Nationalists also unfurled several white banners to collect signatures in support of the bill.
They were fenced off from the parliament building by a cordon and a dozen policemen around the perimeter; the militants put forward young men from the “National Squads” in appropriate clothing.
During the action, nationalists chanted: “Glory to Ukraine – glory to the heroes!”, “Glory to the nation – death to the enemies!”, “Ukraine – first of all!”, and also supported the “volunteer” from Belarus with the slogan “Long live Belarus – live forever!”
The main demand of those gathered was the final adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of bill No. 3433 on granting Ukrainian citizenship to foreign “volunteers”. They recalled that this is not the first time they have carried out such an action, and the other day picketed the Presidential Administration and handed over a list of 450 people to obtain citizenship to the representative of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.
Some in the crowd emphasized that if the Rada ignores their demands, the picketers will not disperse and tires may be used.
The action was marked by speeches from the so-called “volunteers” who came to fight against the people of Donbass. Militants from Russia, Belarus, Moldova and Georgia lamented that in their homeland, especially in the Russian Federation, a prison awaits them and they are waiting for the “deserved,” in their opinion, issuance of Ukrainian citizenship from the Ukrainian authorities until they are expelled from the country by law enforcement officers and the SBU.
Closer to the consideration of the bill in parliament, the nationalists turned on a live broadcast from the meeting room. When the bill was finally passed, the radicals burst into cheers, chanted nationalist slogans, and dispersed from the square in front of parliament.
Let us note that one of the protesters also distinguished himself with special “dedication” to the cause, having fallen asleep under a tree in Mariinsky Park, apparently having previously gained “courage.”
