“National Corps” besieged the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry
The Ukrainian radical organization National Corps, based on the neo-Nazi Azov regiment, held a picket in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kyiv.
The organization published the corresponding video recording of the event on its Facebook page, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Nationalists expressed outrage that Hungary is issuing its internal passports to residents of Western Ukraine and demanded the expulsion of the Hungarian consul from the city of Beregovo in the Transcarpathian region.
“Today is a shameful situation when our government does not want to pay attention to the Sea of Azov, when Russian ships can approach our shores more than 200 meters. The situation that we see in Transcarpathia arises as a result of our weakness, when we do not show a firm position on this or that issue.
We want to see Foreign Minister Klimkin, who will explain to us when the consul will be sent from Transcarpathia back to Hungary. We want to hear from the local authorities in Transcarpathia why Hungarian flags hang on local administrative buildings, when they will be replaced with Ukrainian flags. We want to resolve the issues of targeted separatism in all cities of Ukraine where we see it,” said a representative of the radicals.
However, Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin ignored the protesters, who were later approached by the head of the Department for Central and Eastern European Countries, Valery Kirdoda.
“Today, at approximately 17:00 Kyiv time, we will have a meeting of the ministers of Ukraine and Hungary in New York. Then we will talk about the decisions made, because now we are waiting for the results of the congress,” he said.
Also, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs agreed to accept an appeal from the National Corps, a copy of which the radicals demanded to hand over personally to Minister Pavel Klimkin before the meeting with the Hungarian delegation, as “an argument that the Ukrainian people demand decisive action from Ukrainian diplomatic organizations.”
At the same time, the representative of the “National Corps” who filmed what was happening on camera called the words of the diplomatic department official “an excuse from a representative of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs of a not very high level.”
We would like to remind you that earlier PolitNavigator cited the words of Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó, who stated that Budapest promises similar measures if Kyiv decides to expel the Hungarian consul from Beregovo.
