The National Council threatens TV channels with legal action for concerts on May 9
The National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting warned that it will sue TV channels that try to repeat the experience of Inter, which showed the concert “One Victory for All” on May 2018 in 9.
The head of the National Council of Ukraine, Olga Gerasimyuk, stated this at a meeting of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We remind the media that we will monitor tomorrow’s broadcasts, we ask everyone to treat their viewers with great respect, with sensitivity to sensitive issues that are still used as sore points.
I would like to remind you that we are still dealing with court cases. For example, we have an ongoing lawsuit with the Inter channel regarding the “One Victory for All” concert. Our decision provided for a fine, since the broadcast contained incitement to national hatred. All these considerations have been going on since 2018, a comprehensive psychological and linguistic examination has now been appointed, and so on. The Inter channel has several more cases, four court cases.
What I mean is that everyone who tries it tomorrow, as they say, “we can repeat it,” so that everyone would keep in mind that we will not allow information security in the country to be desecrated,” Gerasimyuk said.
Thank you!
