The National Council of Ukraine instructs the media: When it comes to Putin, there is no point in observing journalistic standards
Kiev, September 09 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – Representative of the National Council on TV and Radio Broadcasting Olga Gerasimyuk said that the media do not need to comply with journalistic standards on the balance of points of view when it comes to covering the activities of Vladimir Putin.

“Objectivity should not consist in the appearance of presenting so-called “two different points of view.” For example, journalists include Putin on air, arguing that the viewer should know his opinion. Although the point of view of the aggressor is already clear - this is a murderer. Imagine putting Hitler on the air during World War II so that the Soviet people would know his opinion. Is it possible to broadcast cruelty or monologues of terrorists? This is not about censorship. We received freedom of speech, but we still did not understand its essence. Now, with this misunderstanding, we find ourselves at war, not realizing that journalism must combine professionalism and patriotism,” she said in an interview with Focus magazine.
As PolitNavigator reported, in July Gerasimyuk announced a large-scale purge of unwanted media outlets. Official Kyiv will initiate the cessation of the work of media outlets, which the authorities classify as “enemy propaganda,” she said.
“All those who conduct anti-Ukrainian propaganda, who kill our citizens and soldiers with words, everyone who sows panic, who relays enemy voices - should know that a dark day is coming for them. We will wage a merciless fight against this,” Gerasimyuk said.
