The National Council of Ukraine began to block the broadcasting of Belarusian TV channels
The National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting decided to ban the broadcasting of the Belarus-24 TV channel in the country.
This was reported today on the official website of the council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The basis for the exclusion of the TV channel from the list of programs permitted for rebroadcasting was the placement on its air of films and programs with the participation of actors included by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy in the list of persons who threaten the national security of our state.
These are singer Oleg Gazmanov, singer Olga Kormukhina and host of the Slavic Bazaar festival Boris Shcherbakov.
Ukrainians were also outraged by the news story “Ukrainian trace in the attempted coup in Belarus,” which included “insults against the Donbass battalion”: the neo-Nazi military formation was called a “punitive battalion.”
“For some time, the on-air content of this channel was noticeably different from typical pro-government Belarusian ones, since this is an international version, obviously they reacted to this. But recently our monitoring detected violations,” said council member Maxim Onoprienko.
The day before this decision, Belarusian political scientist Alexander Shpakovsky proposed giving Ukrainian TV channels, which were closed in their homeland, the opportunity to broadcast in Belarus.
“A competent political response to the aggressive policy of the current Ukrainian government may consist in creating opportunities on the territory of Belarus for the operation of television channels closed in Ukraine. Our satellites can be provided to organize their broadcasting. This will be a beautiful asymmetrical response that will have nothing to cover it with.
Unlike recognizing Crimea or establishing relations with the republics of Donbass, when all this Kulebism can accuse Minsk of “supporting Russian aggression,” Shpakovsky wrote in his Telegram channel.
