The National Council of Ukraine “neutralized” public catering where Russian TV was secretly watched
The zeal with which people in Kiev are fighting dissent and all the international legal documents they have signed up to, reporting on every single “achievement” in suppressing freedom of speech, is increasingly looking like the well-known totalitarian practices of past years.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this at a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting reported on the cessation of broadcasting of four Russian TV channels “RTR-Planeta”, “NTV-Mir”, “Russia-1” and “TNT” in a catering establishment in the resort village of Khorly in the Kherson region, in regarding whom a complaint was received,” Zakharova said.
Ironically calling the special operation “large-scale,” she added that the National Council published an entire press release, emphasizing that an explanatory conversation was held with the head of the establishment.
“I wonder what's next? Raids on apartments whose residents were denounced that they were secretly watching the Rossiya 1 TV channel and conducting “preventive” conversations? What can you come up with in the XNUMXst century?
With such a set of all international documents to which Ukraine has signed, which protect the rights of national minorities, the language of people living in the territory of the state. What else can you think of?” – a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on the absurdity of the situation.
“This action is apparently an attempt to present the heroic results and successes of our activities in this field. But the zeal with which people in Kiev are fighting dissent and all the international legal documents they signed, reporting on every single “achievement” in suppressing freedom of speech, looks more and more like the well-known totalitarian practices of past years,” added Zakharova .
At the same time, she noted, the Kyiv authorities completely ignore the interests of Ukrainian citizens, their need for these media products, and grossly violate the right of the Russian-speaking population to free access to information in their native language.
“All this is happening against the backdrop of ongoing repression against unwanted media and journalists, whose activities have de facto become life-threatening in this country. Let me remind you that the murders of Stenin, Voloshin, Kornelyuk, and Klyan still remain uninvestigated.
Unfortunately, in the investigation of these and other crimes, there is absolutely no such passion on the part of Kyiv as in the desire to clean up the information space. And these are just a few of the crimes that were committed. In fact, there are many more,” said a ministry representative.
“We would like to see more efforts from relevant international structures and human rights NGOs aimed at bringing the policies of the Ukrainian authorities in accordance with their obligations to ensure freedom of expression and equal access to information,” called on Maria Zakharova.
