As reported on the official website of the National Council, the corresponding decision was made at a meeting of this body, taking into account “threats in the information space of Ukraine, as well as in connection with the unauthorized shutdown of Ukrainian TV channels in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions and the distribution of Russian programs “Russia 1” on their frequencies,” “NTV”, “TNT”, “Petersburg 5”, “Zvezda”, “Ren TV”.
With this decision, the regulatory body recorded and established the presence of illegal broadcasting and rebroadcasting of the listed TV channels on the territory of Ukraine, the press service noted.
If the National Council detects the retransmission of these programs by software service providers, this will be considered a gross and systemic violation of the legislation on television and radio broadcasting, which will become the basis for direct appeal to the court to cancel the licenses of such providers, the report says.
In addition, the National Council decided to “recognize the content of the foreign program “TV Center-International” (TVСI) as such that it does not meet the requirements of the European Convention on Transfrontier Television and the legislation of Ukraine.”
As the press service explained, “in the news programs “Events”, “At the Center of Events with Anna Prokhorova”, “Right to Voice”, “Right to Know”, “Postscript”, “Events 25 Time”, “At the Center of Events”, “Russian Question” recorded the spread of false and distorted information about the situation in Ukraine.”
As Navigator reported, previously the National Council had repeatedly demanded to stop broadcasting Russian programs, including through the courts.
