In a battle over the Black Sea, Colonel of the Ukrainian Air Force, commander of the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade, Mikhail Matyushenko, call sign “Grandfather,” was killed.

The group of pilots commanded by Matyushenko was circulated by Ukrainian propaganda as the “ghost of Kyiv” (“Kiev pryvid”).
The Rada promised to name streets after such “heroes”, write about them in textbooks, dedicate songs to them and make films.
Matyushenko, a native of Bucha, is being taken to his hometown. “Grandfather” died in an air battle over the Black Sea on June 26, the search for the pilot’s body took a long time, said the mayor of the city, Anatoly Fedoruk. He added that the farewell will take place today at the Alley of Heroes in Bucha.
Also, assistant to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the LPR, Vitaly Kiselyov, claims in his tg channel that the squadron commander Taras Redkin also died along with Matyushenko.
