Vladimir Kapustin, Director of the Department of Civil Defense and Population Protection of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the DPR, stated this on the air of the talk show “Politkuhnya”. According to him, the dam at the plant’s treatment facilities is in disrepair and could collapse at any moment. At the same time, neither the Ukrainian authorities nor the OSCE respond to requests from the DPR authorities.
“The dam is already in disrepair, and according to the assurances of the same officials of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, it is urgently necessary to put it in order, because it is possible that it will collapse and contaminated water may enter surface waters. This is a zone of potential danger... There are appeals to the relevant government authorities there, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the OSCE. However, there is still no reaction and the situation remains potentially dangerous,” Kapustin emphasized.
