Moscow - Kyiv, April 13 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Stamm) - Today, 52 non-profit organizations are recognized as “foreign agents” in Russia, while thousands receive foreign grants. Secretary of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, co-chairman of the All-Russian Popular Front Alexander Brechalov noted that in fact there may be many times more foreign agents. According to the Ministry of Justice and the OP, in 2014, 4108 NPOs received foreign funding for a total amount of more than 70 billion rubles.

A list of all non-profit organizations operating at foreign expense will be submitted to the president. As stated "Izvestia" in the Ministry of Justice, over the past two years, funding for the “third sector” has suspiciously increased more than tenfold. Experts agree that such cash injections pose a threat to the country, as they can put pressure on domestic politics.

“It is naive to believe that we have only 52 foreign agents and that our “Western partners,” on the one hand, are imposing various economic sanctions against us, and on the other, are providing free financial assistance to our socially oriented NGOs,” noted Alexander Brechalov.

As an example, the head of the OP cited the “social work” of the United States in Ukraine. “In Ukraine, over the past twenty years, an NPO has worked in every municipality. Now we see the result of this influence - they turned almost an entire country against Russia. This was led, firstly, by financing, and secondly, by technologies for manipulating the consciousness of society,” Brechalov noted.

As of February 17, 2015, the Ministry of Justice registered 225 non-profit organizations. Of these, the most are in Moscow (724 thousand - 34% of the total), Moscow region (15,2 thousand - 14%), St. Petersburg (6,4 thousand - 12%) and Krasnodar Territory (5,4 thousand - 6,8%). Among the registered NPOs are 3 thousand trade unions, 28 thousand religious organizations, 27,5 thousand non-profit and public foundations, 22 thousand autonomous non-profit organizations, 19,5 thousand institutions.
