The ongoing hostilities and low standard of living are the most pressing issues for the DPR.

The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, spoke about this in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets, answering a question about the most significant problems facing the republic.

“The biggest problem, besides establishing peace, of course, is the low standard of living of people. Until recently, I would add that there is also fatigue from the uncertainty of our situation. But after Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on a simplified procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship, residents of the republic received confirmation that their aspirations and hopes of becoming part of the country, which for the majority of the population is the Big Motherland, received a mechanism for implementation. This is real happiness for everyone,” said Pushilin.

He also said that the first stage of increasing wages and pensions will be implemented from July 1, and the second from the beginning of next year.

“The minimum pension payment will increase by 25% - it will be 4000 rubles. In addition, payments for pensioners will be recalculated taking into account their labor participation. Previously, excess length of service was not taken into account when calculating pensions; this injustice has now been eliminated. A number of social benefits will also be increased. Starting from the second half of the year, it is planned to increase salaries for civil servants by 20%, and for public sector employees by 35%,” noted the head of the republic.

It was also said that in these conditions it will be very important to prevent prices from rising so that people feel an increase in their incomes.

The head of the DPR also stated that the residents of the DPR have no grudge against Russia, which has still not recognized the republic.

“Even our children probably already understand what geopolitics is. She is not somewhere far away, her intricacies concern each of us. You can point at someone as much as you like, look for those to blame, but we know exactly why we rose up in the spring of 2014, and these five years of ongoing bacchanalia in Ukraine have only proven that we were right. Yes, it’s hard for us, but our friend, partner - Russia - is nearby in every sense. Her political and humanitarian assistance is priceless. And the rest, we understand, to the extent possible,” summed up Pushilin.
