We must take it: Ukraine is unviable without Krivbass - economist
The West will not need only the right bank territory of Ukraine, because without the east this country is not viable as an independent state.
Aleksey Tikhonov, an economic observer and associate professor at Northern State University, stated this on air on the First Sevastopol TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Tikhonov, Krivoy Rog remains extremely important for the Ukrainian economy after the loss of Donbass, in the vicinity of which there are large ore deposits.
“At one time, there are CIA documents, they were declassified, and the approximate situation that was possible with the division of Ukraine was analyzed. And what a paradoxical conclusion did CIA analysts come to at that time - despite the fact that the territory of Ukraine is clearly divided into two parts, it was unprofitable to demand separatism at that moment, according to analysts. Why? Because they believed that the western territory of Ukraine was unviable as a state without its eastern part...
It was the creation of the eastern part that made it possible to give the Ukrainian republic this viable core. If he is cleaning up now, then the question about these territories will be very strange. Especially if the big issue with Krivoy Rog starts now. It is no coincidence that Ukraine has huge reserves of iron ore and, by and large, a very serious escalation could now occur because of iron ore, because even if you remove all metallurgy and leave only Krivoy Rog, then Ukraine, I think, will be able to function independently.” - said Tikhonov.
