This opinion, in particular, was expressed in an interview with the magazine “Kraina” by the commander of the DUK “Right Sector” Andrei Stempitsky, previously twice convicted under criminal articles.
“We are constantly being told that we cannot advance,” says Stempitsky. – The question is: why was it necessary to lose thousands of killed soldiers? Donbass should have been given up right away, just like Crimea was given away. Would have saved a lot of lives. When Ukrainian troops withdraw from Shirokino and Shchastya, they will be occupied by militants. And they will move on. Did Russia invade Ukraine to capture several regions of Donetsk and Luhansk regions? They will gain a foothold in their next positions and will advance further, destabilizing the situation in neighboring regions. That’s why it’s so important to defend our current milestones.”
