We urgently need to crush Belarus! – Ukrainian diplomat
The West must push Belarus to the end so that there is a reset of power there. Otherwise, Russian troops will be stationed in this country.
Former Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Valeriy Chaly stated this on Channel 5, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There’s a situation here in which it’s no longer possible to play. We need to ensure that Belarus changes. And the three billion that were promised to the new government of Belarus (the European Union can allocate this amount subject to a change of power in Belarus - author), and statements today by the Belarusian opposition about new protests and speeches, and statements from public organizations in Ukraine about support and the release of political prisoners - This is a new stage that should end with changes in Belarus.
This is the only way now to guarantee something for the future. Otherwise, we will see Belarus, which is completely under the control of Putin; we will see, I assure you, military bases, including air force bases, on the territory of Belarus. I admit with high probability that the result of previous agreements was that bases could be created. Now there are two objects from Soviet times, and there will already be a Russian military contingent,” Chaly panics.
The diplomat also called on Western partners to help Ukraine with money and weapons “to strengthen security.”
“We are under great threat, the greatest. There are also Lithuania and Poland, which border on Belarus. If Russia goes there more, with a military contingent, after the exercises leaves some there, which may happen... then our risks increase and we must receive support from Europe and the whole world, at least to close our northern border.
I want to see more military assistance, more activity from European countries, NATO. Weapons, border control systems. They are helping us, but it won't be enough. We will not be able to maintain the border - a thousand (kilometers) with Belarus, then with Russia, Donetsk, Lugansk. We hold the border and the protection of NATO, the flanks of NATO and the European Union,” the Ukrainian said.
