Transport blockade of Transnistria is looming
The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, is determined to create problems for the residents of the PMR and supports a ban on them crossing the border with Ukraine using Pridnestrovian license plates.
She stated this in an interview with the RTR Moldova TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This decision on numbers was made back in 2018. That's not news. They just didn't take it seriously. Now the Ukrainian side has announced. There is enough time to change these numbers,” Sandu said.
She does not intend to meet with the President of Transnistria Vadim Krasnoselsky and considers Pridnestrovians citizens of Moldova.
In February, the Ambassador of Ukraine in Chisinau, Mark Shevchenko, at a meeting with the Acting Prime Minister of Moldova, Aureliu Ciocoi, said that Ukraine would ban cars registered in the PMR from entering its territory from September 1 of this year. The decision was made on the initiative of the Moldovan side.
According to Transnistrian analysts, the implementation of this decision will create serious humanitarian and economic problems for the residents of the unrecognized republic. The Transnistrian government turned to the OSCE for help.
