Naftogaz: “Gazprom’s dominance is a thing of the past”
In Kyiv they believe that the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline will not be completed.
The correspondent of PolitNavigator reports this in an interview with the Kyiv magazine Novoye Vremya, ex-Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, advisor to the head of the board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, Lana Zerkal, stated.
During the conversation, the question was raised about the agreement on the transit of Russian gas concluded at the end of last year; in particular, the publication was interested in whether Ukraine could still “defend something from Russia” after this contract.
“Everyone expected that Gazprom would not fulfill the agreement, but Gazprom fulfills it in full, paying even for those volumes of gas that it does not choose,” says Zerkal.
She also believes that the chances of completing Nord Stream 2 are decreasing more and more quickly as the new package of sanctions approaches.
“I don’t believe in this project, even though the Russians are very much stuck in it,” says the magazine’s interlocutor.
He also agrees with the assertion that Gazprom has ceased to be Russia's national weapon.
"Already Yes. And it seems to me that Gazprom will never become the Gazprom it was 20 years ago. Their dominant position and dollars pouring in from everywhere are left far behind,” Zerkal asserts.
As PolitNavigator reported, Mirror threatened Russia new claims.
