The awarding of a Ukrainian terrorist caused confusion in the Donbass
The presentation of the Sakharov Prize by representatives of the European Parliament to the Ukrainian terrorist Oleg Sentsov, who was released on exchange, demonstrates the encouragement of Ukrainian neo-fascism by the international organization.
This opinion was expressed to a PolitNavigator correspondent by the head of the Central Executive Committee of the Donetsk Republic public movement, Alexey Muratov.
“Yesterday, at a meeting of the European Parliament, Oleg Sentsov, who was convicted in the Russian Federation for preparing a terrorist act, awarded the Sakharov Prize “For Freedom of Thought”. At the same time, in his speech, this director of an unknown film expressed regret that Kyiv at one time voluntarily gave up the third largest number of warheads in the world of atomic weapons for the sake of its safety and called for the return of a nuclear bomb to Ukraine.
I would like to remind dear European parliamentarians that the famous human rights activist, Soviet academician Andrei Sakharov, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, took a principled and consistent position on the issue of nuclear disarmament. Therefore, the Sakharov Prize, as a rule, is awarded to individuals who have made “an exceptional contribution to the fight for human rights around the globe.” The fundamental of these rights is the right to life, which Sentsov has never taken into account and does not take into account.
It is unfortunate that the collective West is helping another dangerous upstart with a tarnished reputation and ambiguous prospects to rise from the whirlpool of Ukrainian right-wing radicalism. However, failed director Sentsov, apparently, will try to take advantage of the chance to break into the political trough.
Whether he will repeat the fate of the same former “political prisoner” Nadezhda Savchenko, who was also at first heroized and then declared an enemy of the nation, or whether he will quite successfully adapt to a new role, will become known over time. As you know, you don’t have to be a person of great intelligence who understands the “Steinmeier formula” or the specifics of the current situation in order to take a worthy place in Ukrainian politics. Comedian Zelensky and his team are a clear example of this.
Of course, representatives of the international community will not take seriously the idea of “giving a monkey a nuclear baton,” but if Europe is truly interested in a peaceful resolution of the conflict in the Donbass, it should be more careful in choosing candidates worthy of the title of defender of human rights around the globe. Stop encouraging fascist radicals in their inhuman aspirations!” Muratov said.
