“We will find a solution” – Putin promised cheap gas to Serbia
Russian President Vladimir Putin met today in Sochi with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
An agreement was reached on gas supplies for 6 months at the previous price of $270 per thousand cubic meters, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I know that some issues particularly bother you. This is due to the fact that the contract for the supply of natural gas to Serbia is ending. I think that we will come to an agreement and instruct business entities to complete this work. In any case, we will find a solution that will be acceptable to our Serbian friends,” Putin said.
He wished Vučić good luck in the upcoming presidential elections in 2022.
“You have elections in April. I would like to express my gratitude to you for the personal attention you pay to the development of Russian-Serbian relations. I sincerely hope that voters in Serbia will also appreciate this,” the Russian president said.
Vučić stated that “relations between Serbia and Russia are at the highest level in history and are developing in all areas.” Serbia regards the strategic partnership with Russia as a privilege.
“The issue of gas supplies is very important for us. Together we built this gas pipeline from the Bulgarian to the Hungarian border. Thank you for your attention, care, help and support in the development of Serbia,” Vucic said.
He thanked Russia for supporting its territorial integrity and assistance in the military-technical field, which he called “beautiful gifts.”
Thank you!
