“As eyewitnesses told RBC, this week at the Kiev Boryspil airport, the documents of arriving Russians were checked more thoroughly than before. One of the Russians who went through border control at the beginning of the week said that they checked his papers for a very long time and denied entry for formal reasons, although he had previously been allowed in with the same set of documents. According to him, several of his compatriots, mostly single men, were denied entry along with him. In an informal conversation, they were explained that this was due to increased security in connection with the celebration of Independence Day,” the publication notes.

“Russians have difficulties entering Ukraine through Boryspil,” an employee of the airport’s information service confirmed to an RBC correspondent. An official representative of Boryspil forwarded RBC's questions to the Ukrainian border service. A representative of this department said that “they don’t just return anyone.” Those passengers who do not fulfill the “conditions for entry into the territory of Ukraine” are refused, she explained,” writes RBC.
