On the eve of Victory Day, the Rivne and Ternopil dioceses were not afraid to serve for the bishop killed by the OUN
Clergy and believers of the Rivne and Ternopil diocese remembered Metropolitan Alexei Gromadsky at the site of his death in the Dubno district.
May 7, 2018 marked the 75th anniversary of the death of Metropolitan Alexy, Primate of the Orthodox Church in the Nazi-occupied Ukrainian SSR. According to the memoirs of OUN member Skorupsky, published in 1961 in Chicago, a “militant” under the command of a certain “Khrin” shot up the car with the Metropolitan.
The reason for the sentence of Hitler's collaborators to the bishop was his refusal to unite the canonical Autonomous Ukrainian Church, which he headed, with the so-called. "Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church" into "United Local Autocephalous Ukrainian Church". Today, the so-called “Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church”, created by order of Hitler, is being argued for succession. “Kyiv Patriarchate” and so-called. “UAOC”, who signed Poroshenko’s appeal on the creation of the EPUC.
Memorial service for Met. Alexy was served by the vicar of the Ternopil diocese of the UOC (MP), Bishop Seraphim of Shumsky, and the vicar of the Rivne diocese, Bishop Pimen of Dubensky.
During the funeral service, the choir of seminarians from the Pochaev Theological Seminary sang.
