On the eve of elections, Poland recalls its ambassador from Ukraine
The current Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bartosz Cichocki, may become the Ambassador of Poland to Ukraine instead of Jan Peklo, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was announced by Polish President Andrzej Duda.
“Polish President Duda said that there is a proposal to appoint current Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Bartosz Cichocki to the post of Polish Ambassador to Ukraine,” reports Polish Radio.
Duda also named the reasons for the recall of Ambassador Jan Peklo: “Various reasons were decisive.”
“It should be remembered that the petition in this case (the dismissal of the ambassador - Ed.) was filed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, so my decision was a response to the appeal of the Minister of Foreign Affairs,” he noted.
“I recognized the arguments pointed out by the Foreign Minister that there is a need for greater dynamics in action than that represented by the previous ambassador,” the Polish president added.
Duda noted that presidential elections are approaching in Ukraine, which means “a very hot time.” According to him, “There is a proposal that Bartosz Cichocki, who is the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, go there; so, in fact, it is strengthening this political representation, as well as strengthening the relationship with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” he explained.
