The President of the Russian Federation instructed the country's Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to promptly prepare the necessary documents for the implementation of this decree.
“The government has written to me to continue the measures we have taken in response to these actions by our partners from some countries. Today, in accordance with this letter, I signed a decree on extending the validity of certain special economic measures in order to ensure the security of the Russian Federation,” Putin noted.
“I ask the government to promptly prepare and issue an appropriate government resolution,” the Russian President added.
He clarified that, at the proposal of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, “we will continue our relevant measures for a year, starting from today.”
V. Putin expressed confidence that the countermeasures taken will be a good guide for domestic agricultural producers.
For his part, the Russian Prime Minister assured that “everything will be done.” “The document is now in the preparation stage,” Medvedev said.
On June 22, the EU Council at the level of foreign ministers extended the validity of economic sanctions against Russia for six months. The decision came into force on June 23.
On August 7, 2014, Russia introduced a package of measures in response to sanctions from the United States, Australia, Canada, the European Union and Norway. These measures include a ban on the import of fruits, vegetables, dairy and meat products into Russia from these countries. Some types of finished meat and fish products were not subject to restrictions.
Recall as PolitNavigator reported, Ukrainian politician Tatyana Montyan said that the EU, following in the wake of US policy to the detriment of its interests, lost more than 100 billion euros from the introduction of sanctions against Russia.
“Europeans are slowly starting to say: why do we need this circus? Both sides suffered 100 billion from the sanctions, and Europe suffered much more. Well, the Russians laugh at them - what have you achieved with these sanctions? In addition, Europe understands: the worse the situation in Ukraine, the sooner crowds, primarily our bandits, will rush there. And what will they do with them? That is, Europe, it turns out, bit itself in the genital organ for the sake of American ambitions,” Montyan assures.
