Two processions were heading to Kyiv - from the east, from the Svyatogorsk Lavra, and from the west, from the Pochaev Lavra. About ten thousand people from different dioceses took part in the procession. In Kyiv, their number, according to rough estimates, has increased to several tens of thousands of people.

Believers and clergy carried eight icons - “The Blessing of Holy Mount Athos”, the icon of St. Anthony of Pechersk and the icons of the Mother of God “Svyatogorskaya”, “Pochaevskaya”, “Rzhavskaya”, “Announcer”, “Mammal”, “Mizherichskaya”.

Due to fears of provocations from radicals, participants in the procession were allowed to enter the meeting place and subsequent prayer service on Vladimirskaya Gorka through metal detectors.

Despite security measures, provocations could not be avoided - unknown girls with tattoos, looking like radical feminists, carried a drawing depicting Patriarch Kirill on fire and showed it to believers.

The PolitNavigator correspondent tried to find out what this drawing symbolizes and who the protesters represent, but the girls retreated without waiting for aggression from the believers. During the event, two men were also seen standing near the Ukrainian House holding a banner with the inscription “Fifth Column”.

The participants of the procession themselves, which the Ukrainian media call “scandalous,” calmly treat those who are trying to stop them.

“First of all, you need to learn to see your shortcomings. With what eyes we look at the world, that’s how we perceive it. If we look at the world peacefully with our eyes and hearts, then we will see everything peacefully. And if these people are mistaken, then that’s their problem, let’s not judge them. If we judge them, then the Lord will judge us too,” priest Vyacheslav of the Ovruch and Korosten diocese told a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“We want peace to come to our land in the end, so that blood will not be shed. We constantly pray that the Lord will give peace, so that our authorities will look at our people with new eyes,” he added.

“We want mothers not to lose their sons, so that children do not remain orphans, so that wives have husbands and a full-fledged family,” Lidia Alexandrovna, a participant in the procession, told a PolitNavigator correspondent. “This is a procession for peace, and what difference does it make who blessed it - the Russian, Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the main thing is about peace, peace is what will save us.”

After the meeting of the processions, the participants of the religious procession went to Vladimirskaya Hill. The believers gathered there greeted them with applause. A prayer service for peace was held on Vladimirskaya Gorka with the participation of clergy and laity. It was headed by the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Onuphry. He thanked the participants in the religious procession who passed through the whole country and bowed to them.

“These are the people we bow down to and thank God that we have,” he said.

The Metropolitan also gave gifts to two little participants in the procession who walked all the way to Kiev on their own feet - Anastasia, who walked to Kyiv from the Svyatogorsk Lavra, and Feodosia from Dubno, who walked from the Pochaev Lavra. The believers sang many years to the girls.

“We will continue our prayer for the Ukrainian land, for our government, for our people. We will continue our prayerful feat in the procession of the cross, which, I think, will be the leaven of peace, love, harmony,” said Metropolitan Onuphry, concluding the prayer service. After the prayer service, the procession headed to the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, where a prayer service for peace also took place.
