This was stated at a press conference in Kyiv by the ex-deputy chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine Alexander Savchenko, who noted that the main source of filling Ukrainian gold and foreign exchange reserves is funds from loans.
“This is a very bad source, because after a few years all these funds must be given away. And the size of the inflow will change to negative - you will have to give more and more. And one more important note: you cannot remove currency from the economy until it has started working. Now the NBU is taking more out of the economy than it is attracting. This slows down the potential for economic growth... Our gold and foreign currency reserves are not growing, but imports and exports are falling. And therefore, our relative indicators, surprisingly, are improving,” the expert noted.
