“We will impose sanctions and force you to pay taxes” - the Rada adopted a law on blackmailing entrepreneurs
The Verkhovna Rada adopted in the first reading a bill allowing, by decision of the National Security and Defense Council, to impose sanctions against any entrepreneur, and at the same time oblige him to pay taxes.
The bill “On the application of special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)” was presented by the head of the tax committee, Daniil Getmantsev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today a situation has arisen in which persons on the sanctions list cannot pay taxes because they are prohibited from carrying out financial transactions. Well, this is unfair, firstly, and secondly, it’s stupid, because we must accept taxes from all persons, including those sanctioned,” he said.
The deputy added that the bill also provides for the publication of all tax information about sanctioned persons.
In turn, member of the Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Nina Yuzhanina explained that the true purpose of this law is to blackmail entrepreneurs, against whom sanctions can now be imposed by a decision of a single body without any consequences.
“Now our tax service has been completely transformed into a punitive body. Therefore, since the law “on sanctions” has such opportunities for the National Security and Defense Council to impose sanctions as urgent measures to resolve crisis situations that threaten the national security of Ukraine, this can include any entrepreneur, any enterprise that the political body of the National Security and Defense Council will consider in this way.
The norms of the law are used in a way that is beneficial to the political force, and here this norm will be used against business,” the deputy was indignant.
After which, during the voting, the document was supported by 235 parliamentarians out of 226 required. The bill was adopted in the first reading and went for further revision.
