We are finished: in Kyiv they were afraid of Lukashenko’s overthrow
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is beneficial to Kyiv because he pursues an openly Russophobic policy, and his overthrow could lead to the collapse of Ukraine.
Political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on air on the 112 Ukraine TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Belarusians were approached with such a yardstick that the Maidan was pro-Western and pro-nationalist, and Lukashenko was pro-Russian. Nothing like this. The situation there now is much more complicated.
Therefore, many of our nationalists are in a stupor. Because on the one hand, there is a Maidan under Russian money and Russian politicians, and Lukashenko is playing games with Putin, where China, Russia, partly the USA, these Wagnerites.
And many say: “Then let’s leave Lukashenko. Even though he is a tyrant and an autocrat, he suppressed the Maidan, and this riot police are simply beating people because he is pursuing a policy of containing Russia.” If Lukashenko doesn’t act, then Belarus will simply be absorbed by Russia, an Anschluss,” he noted.
Vadim Karasev emphasized that any political changes in Belarus could greatly shake the situation in the entire region, including causing the final collapse of Ukraine.
“And in this case, the situation inside Ukraine loses its balance. This is geopolitics, like magnets. How will Western Ukraine react in this case?
And, on the other hand, what if the situation swings in the other direction, and Belarus goes under Poland, under the West? Even today the Polish press writes that he is a tyrant, and so on, but he is holding back the pro-Russian Maidan. Just imagine - if Belarus swings there, then this is a shift for us too. How will the East of Ukraine react, and how will Russia? There will be a tougher situation in Donbass, and so on. But this is not the main thing.

We need to look in which direction the situation there will swing, and in which direction it will swing us. And are we ready to maintain this post-imperial balance, so as not to swing either here or there?
