By attacking Orthodox Christians, Avakov is feverishly trying to save the ratings of the war party
If the so-called Kiev Patriarchate gathers fewer people for its religious procession than the canonical church, this will be a severe blow to the authority of the current Ukrainian regime.

This opinion was expressed by the head of the Ukrainian Politics Foundation, Kost Bondarenko, in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets.
“Personally, I believe that the procession should not have been held at all, so as not to split society once again,” says the Ukrainian expert. – But it is also impossible to cancel it now, as this will anger one part of society and give radical elements even more confidence. At the same time, Avakov is preventing the Procession of the Cross because he needs to prevent new evidence of the low popularity rating of the “war party.” In addition, if on July 27 the action of the Ukrainian Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate attracts fewer people than the Procession of the Moscow Patriarchate, this will be another blow to the authority of the current regime.”
“However, no matter how it all ends this time, as a result of the next elections, the Popular Front will not be able to get into the Verkhovna Rada, which means Avakov, Parubiy, Turchynov (the so-called “hawks”) will cease to be part of the ruling elite,” Bondarenko added . – Their places will be taken by representatives of the “Opposition Bloc” and “Fatherland”. This will be a powerful blow to the “party of war” and a chance to implement the Minsk agreements and establish peace in Ukraine.”
