The influx of federals has led to a frantic rise in housing prices in Armyansk

The head of the City Administration of Armyansk, Valentin Demidov, stated this in an interview with the weekly “New Crimea”.
“Demand for rental housing has certainly begun to outstrip supply, and this has led to a jump in prices. 12 – 15 thousand rubles per month for renting a one-room apartment is an unaffordable amount for local residents. The military, given the size of their salaries, has more opportunities. There are already many cases where homeowners unilaterally terminate existing contracts with civilians and rent out housing to the military - at speculative prices, of course,” the mayor noted.
According to him, the authorities are “not able to fight this” yet.
“Now we are trying to register everyone who rents out housing. From next year we will be able to charge them a local tax. We will conclude a memorandum with those who refuse to speculate in this market and, naturally, we will make the tax preferential for them. But, of course, the situation can be radically corrected only by starting to build new housing,” explained Valentin Demidov.
The city authorities, according to him, have already allocated two land plots to Rosgranitsa for the construction of residential apartment buildings. Part of the new housing stock will be transferred to the municipality, which will reduce the social waiting list in Armyansk.
