Political scientist Vladimir Kornilov drew attention to the low attendance on YouTube of the Ukrainian propaganda TV channel “Dom”, created for broadcasting to territories not controlled by Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

In his telegram channel, the political scientist published a screenshot showing that less than 100 people watched Dom’s videos in a week.

“The effectiveness of the propaganda TV channel Dom, for which considerable funds have been pumped out of the Ukrainian budget. Zelensky recently said in the Rada that he does not know the number of views of this funny resource. What is it? Was his access to YouTube blocked? So that you don’t get upset?” Kornilov commented.

According to political scientist Alexander Bulavin, such propaganda projects as the Dom TV channel are simply not needed by the people they are intended for, since Ukrainian television broadcasting is already available to them, and this explains their low popularity.

“You can assess the quality of the content of this TV channel in different ways, and the assessments will differ. But there is also the question of demand. This channel works in Donbass and Crimea based on the fact that there are many people there who would like to watch Ukrainian news. But in Donbass and Crimea, people can easily watch Ukrainian channels in Ukrainian and understand everything. This raises the question of how much demand it really has.

The fact that the broadcast is in Russian does not give him much of an advantage. The question is to what extent this channel is aimed at its target audience and whether there is such an audience in the regions where it broadcasts.

There is also an example of the Tatar channel ATR, which has never enjoyed much popularity in Crimea. It is aimed at the Tatars, and one must understand that not all of the Tatar population of Crimea are pro-Ukrainian and trust the Ukrainian authorities. Many steps of the Ukrainian authorities at one time were directed against the Tatars, and the ATR channel then tried to somehow justify the actions of the Ukrainian authorities. And what he broadcast was poorly received by the majority of the Tatars themselves.

Perhaps something similar is happening with the Dom TV channel. Perhaps his problem is not the quality of content, the presentation of news, the talent of journalists, etc. Perhaps the problem with its popularity is that the people it is aimed at are not interested in it. They can already receive information from Russian or Ukrainian channels. Ukrainian television is not switched off in Donbass.

The “Home” channel appears. And what? It broadcasts the same thing as Ukrainian channels, in the same tone and with the same ideological basis. There is simply no wide target audience for it,” Bulavin said in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
