Frightened Lithuania makes excuses for Kaliningrad and turns its attention to Brussels
Lithuania did not impose a blockade of Kaliningrad, but only fulfills the requirements of the fourth package of EU sanctions.
The former Ambassador of Lithuania in Moscow, Eitvydas Bayarunas, stated this in an interview with foreign agent Alexey Venediktov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This is not Lithuania’s decision. This was the decision of all EU countries when the fourth package of sanctions was adopted on March 15, which stipulated that some goods could not enter the territory of the EU countries. Realizing that not all goods can be quickly removed from circulation, a schedule was drawn up. Now it's time for metals and other sanctioned goods. The Russian side knew this in advance. Lithuania did not stop transit. The transit of Russian citizens and goods that are not included in the sanctions list will continue... Lithuania has not imposed a blockade and will not introduce it. Lithuania fully complies with its obligations regarding Kaliningrad transit. Maybe someone in Russia benefits from this escalation?” Bayarunas said.
He emphasized that Lithuania considers Kaliningrad as a place of contacts with Russia.
“Kaliningrad, by law, is not a tension zone. At one time we thought and hoped that this would be a zone of favorable contacts. Someday we will return to this and talk about Kaliningrad as Russia’s Hong Kong,” Bayarunas said.
Political scientist Alexander Nosovich believes that the Lithuanian elite is unteachable.
“Now they have blocked Kaliningrad transit... So what? They don't even know themselves; and even with the machinations of the Anglo-Saxons and the doctrine of controlled chaos, this is difficult to explain - because it can explain anything. And if you still think: but how is this possible, then there is only one logical explanation. This is super-submissive behavior when the victim becomes an aggressor in order to provoke retaliatory measures from the geopolitical dominant, because only in this way, in a submissive state, does the submissive experience harmony,” Nosovich wrote in his TG channel. .
