Frightened Nayem demanded that Zelensky reveal the mechanism for the separation of troops in Donbass
The five-year failure of the withdrawal of troops in Donbass raises many questions for the previous government, but the silence of President Zelensky’s team, which started this process again, can lead to undesirable consequences, such as discontent among the radicals.
Verkhovna Rada deputy, one of the main instigators of the coup in 2014, Mustafa Nayem, said this on Radio Liberty, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I don’t know the president’s strategy on how they move through the Minsk process. The Minsk process is a very complex story, there are different modalities on how to move towards this. I also want to hope that the disengagement of troops in Stanitsa Luganskaya will lead to demarcation, disengagement and a ceasefire along the entire front line. We all really want this. The question is, at what cost?
I don’t know why they didn’t agree before, but now they agreed. That is, I want to understand rationally what the problem was for five years or, if it was done on purpose, on our part, I want to find out who is guilty, who is responsible, who specifically: maybe in the Presidential Administration, maybe in the Minsk group, maybe in the Ministry of Defense - who specifically prevented this from being done? Or, if we cannot name the culprits and rationally explain the reason, I may have suspicions that this is being done as part of some kind of compromise that we do not know,” the people’s deputy became alarmed.
“Maybe we don’t need to know for a while until this closes. But given the many questions that arise for the team specifically regarding approaches to the war, their general rhetoric about this war and so on, I think that they will not even have problems with us, but problems will arise with more radical groups who, without understanding such things will be attacked. And I think that correct communication from the president, an explanation of what is happening and why, and what strategy we are following, would be correct,” says Mustafa Nayem.
