The corresponding announcement was made by Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy during the plenary session, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In accordance with the Regulations, I inform you about the resignation of MP Oleg Petrenko from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction,” said the head of parliament.
Let us remember that before entering the Rada, Oleg Petrenko was a militant of the neo-Nazi Azov regiment, with which he fought in the Donbass. In the media, the people's deputy explained the reason for his departure from the BPP faction by the fact that Poroshenko vetoed the bill adopted by the Rada on amnesty for ATO militants for war crimes committed in the Donbass.
“I really don’t see myself as a member of the Petro Poroshenko bloc faction. I never became a “BPP guy”; I remained an Azovite. I traveled all over the country and now I have about three dozen volunteers on bail. Last weekend, activists went to Poroshenko’s estate because the president was not signing the amnesty law. This law was voted by the Verkhovna Rada once, then it was signed by the president, who gave his comments and returned it to the Verkhovna Rada. The Verkhovna Rada voted for him for the second time with 226 votes; in the literal sense of the word, then they had to force deputies into the hall. And so the president, violating all the norms of the law, does not sign this law. He doesn't sign without comment. This moment could be decisive in my political career. I am a majoritarian and have already made my choice, although I may reconsider my opinion if the president suddenly signs the law, although I have less and less hope that this step will be taken,” Petrenko said on one of the TV channels.
We remind you that Law No. 4255 “On Amnesty in 2016” was voted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on December 22, 2016. On March 24, the law was signed by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and sent to the President of Ukraine. Poroshenko is violating the deadline set by the Constitution and is still delaying its signing, without which the law cannot come into force.
