The current governor of Kuzbass, Aman Tuleyev, yesterday extended his vacation for the second time. He doesn't appear in public. The media are spreading rumors about Tuleyev’s poor health. He allegedly gave in after criminal cases were opened against two of his deputies last year. Tuleyev is 73 years old, the oldest governor of Russia. According to Kommersant, he will resign on July 1 in order to “celebrate” his 20th anniversary in office.
Even if Tuleyev does not leave, they will try to remove Nosov from the Sverdlovsk region. Either to the Federation Council, or to the Chelyabinsk region, where, it seems, the governor is facing resignation.
The problem is Nosov's popularity in the region. In 2012, 90% of Nizhny Tagil residents voted for him. Over the course of five years, he not only did not lose his authority in the city, but also gained it in the region.
And, although Nosov is not plotting behind the back of Acting Governor Evgeny Kuvaishev, nominated by United Russia, social activists in the region spoke out for him. The organization "Groza" initiated the movement "Sergei Nosov - People's Governor" and is collecting signatures for the participation of the mayor of Tagil in the gubernatorial elections. This weakens the position of the not very popular Kuvaishev, who still has to fight with the liberal head of Yekaterinburg, Yevgeny Roizman. The latter is nominated by two parties at once - “Yabloko” and PARNAS.
“Nosov’s problem has been solved - within a couple of years he will most likely become governor, but not in the Sverdlovsk region,” political scientist Evgeniy Minchenko wrote on his Telegram channel.
