“People’s hero and leader of a young state” - the memory of the head of the DPR was honored in Italy
On September 9, the ninth day after the death of DPR leader Alexander Zakharchenko, events were held in his memory in Verona, Italy.
Northern League deputy Vito Comencini, president of the Veneto-Russia association Palmarino Zocatelli, representative of the Committee for an Independent Veneto Maurizio Marroni and DPR representative in Italy journalist Eliseo Bertolasi organized a conference at which documentaries about the DPR leader were shown.
Earlier, on September 5 in Milan, at the monument to the victims of fascism in Loreto Square, the international human rights organization “Global Rights of Peaceful People” (headquartered in Italy), together with comrades from the Italian anti-fascist movements, also held a rally in memory of Alexander Zakharchenko.
The speakers accused Kyiv of “the contract killing of a national hero who fought for freedom in Donbass.” There were also statements that the deceased leader of the republic “made great efforts in establishing and protecting the young republic from the Ukrainian authorities who support neo-fascists and punitive battalions.”
The speakers focused on Zakharchenko’s personal qualities and emphasized his “invaluable contribution to the preservation of peace and legality on the territory of an independent young state.”
Some of the speakers, in particular representatives of the Communist Party, blamed the US and NATO for what happened.
