As Navigator reported, on May 24, Italian journalist Andrea Rocchelli and his translator Andrei Mironov, who was also a well-known human rights activist and former political prisoner, died near Slavyansk. In addition, a photojournalist from France was wounded.
“Actually, this happened as a result of a mortar attack. The bodies are in the morgue, an examination will be carried out. That is, there will be conclusions. The very fact that journalists, who were also peaceful, were killed once again proves that they are acting against everyone. No one will be released. Even a pregnant woman, even a child. It's ugly and unpleasant. The parents of the Italian journalist will be here soon, we will provide all possible assistance in organizing the sending of the bodies. A very sad fact,” Ponomarev said.
At the same time, the Ukrainian authorities promised a thorough investigation into the incident. The Information Resistance group claims that there was no mortar shelling that day.
