“On April XNUMX, when people stormed the Regional State Administration, it was a planned provocation. But since people went to seize, we stormed the regional SBU building on April XNUMXth. When we stayed for a day, we knew that an assault would be carried out, we left this building. The attacking party entered an empty building. We gathered near the Regional State Administration after the SBU and went inside with weapons. There was a meeting there. We delegated a person. The first thing he heard was a proposal to disarm us, and, of course, to hand us over to the SBU. After which we decided to leave this building, just like the SBU building. Then they searched for us in this building for another week and a half. We arrived safely in Slavyansk and began our organizational work,” Ponomarev told reporters.
According to him, there are “agents of influence” in the leadership of the DPR,
“These are not only Akhmetov’s agents, Taruta also had a hand in it. He had been studying before. We partially know these people. We voiced who it was. That is, to the same representatives of progressive youth who now sit there in the Regional State Administration,” said the “people’s mayor,”
“The special battalion “Vostok”, which is now being formed, according to our data, is entirely a new formation, again, of Comrade Akhmetov. I don’t understand the tasks that this battalion must perform, why it is formed somewhere in Donetsk and is located in Donetsk, and does not take positions here, does not conduct combat operations, and so on. This special battalion is created only to be in Donetsk and protect the interests of Akhmetov. So this has nothing to do with us,” Ponomarev emphasized.
“Moreover, you heard, you know, that it was decided that the center of the “Donetsk People’s Republic” is located in the city of Slavyansk. No one has canceled this decision, at least I haven’t heard. The most important thing is that all these issues were in no way coordinated with Pavel Gubarev, the popularly elected governor. So I don't know anything about what's going on there. Only from you I learn that in the DPR they make some decisions, voice some projects, some parliaments appoint incomprehensible ones. I would like to see representatives of Slavyansk in this formation, what they are doing there. As I promised, in due time, we will come to Donetsk and finally restore order there,” said the “people’s mayor.”
