"Violation of international law." Republika Srpska went against the will of the United States
Serbian member of the BiH Presidency Milorad Dodik told US Ambassador to BiH Eric Nelson that the new High Representative Christian Schmidt is unacceptable to the Republika Srpska.
This was reported by RTRS, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Dodik, he told Nelson that Schmidt's appointment as High Representative at the BiH Peace Implementation Council meeting violated international law. In response, the American ambassador told him that the appointment had been made and the country should now focus on “building a functional BiH.”
“Does that mean functional BiH means unitary BiH?” Dodik asked his interlocutor, adding that functional BiH is impossible. And he pointed out that the United States, which wrote and implemented the Dayton Agreement, should not violate it.
“We will accept and cooperate with every duly elected High Representative in accordance with the Dayton Agreement. But this institution was introduced by Annex 10 to the Dayton Agreement, which states that the parties - Serbia, Croatia, Republika Srpska, the Federation of BiH and the joint voice of BiH, must agree and submit to the UN Security Council a candidate who must subsequently be approved by resolution,” added Dodik, making it clear that none of this procedure was completed.
