Military personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces systematically beat prisoners, keep them in inhumane conditions and extort money.

This information was released today by the press service of the DPR Ombudsman. One of the prisoners talks about torture and the inhumane attitude of the Ukrainian Armed Forces punishers, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I am Dmitry Valentinovich Shamov. I live in the city of Ilovaisk on Vinogradnaya Street. In 2014, on August 23, together with his father, he was captured by soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. They kept us in school No. 14 in the city of Ilovaisk. They were kept in a workshop in an iron box measuring 3 meters long and 1,5 meters wide. There were 15 or 16 of us there. They beat us every 15 minutes, constantly,” said the former prisoner of war.
“The shelling began on August 24, 2014. The father came under fire and was wounded. Three more people who were with us were killed immediately; two more died from loss of blood. The military didn’t help us in any way: they didn’t give us any medicine or water, they only gave us a five-liter bottle so that we could go to the toilet. They beat us and forced us to dig trenches. The wounded remained in the box,” notes Shamov.
