“We will be brought up with coldness”: Ukrainian Russophobe politician
Ukraine is being deliberately led to an energy collapse so that Kyiv will be more accommodating in negotiations with Moscow.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexander Kovtunenko stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are eyewitnesses of how the current government today copes with the challenges that our society faces. We see what is happening in our energy sector, we see what is happening with coal, with heat and with electricity prices, we see our industry, which is currently stopping, we see how the authorities are completely unable to cope with their functions ", Kovtunenko said.
“Unfortunately, today, due to the fact that the authorities confused responsibility with popularity, and invested Naftogaz’s money in their personal whims, say, in “big construction,” we were left without gas, we found ourselves without warehouses filled with coal. Because today, unfortunately, let’s just say that I am far from thinking that this was done by mistake. I think that Ukraine is being pushed and will be taught with coldness so that it will be flexible in the next negotiations with our neighbor,” the politician concluded.
Kovtunenko, who regularly appears on Russian television as a Ukrainian expert, is known for his nationalist views. So, on the air of the TV channel “Russia 1” he stated that “All White Russians are feral Ukrainians or Finno-Ugric peoples.”
Since 2006, Kovtunenko was a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc, but then went over to Viktor Yanukovych and for some time even served as his adviser.
