We can be used against Russia - Belarusian president
Belarus is not a “freeloader” of Russia, since the terms of economic cooperation with the Russian Federation are much less favorable for it than for Vietnam or the enemy USA.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Stop accusing us of freeloading! We have never been parasites with you, and we never will be. And when people hear this, and especially I, a proud person, I don’t want any alliances. If you gave us a loan for the construction of a nuclear power plant at 4,8%, and Vietnam and Armenia - less than three. The question is why? And at what percentage do you keep billions of dollars in America, from your “enemies”? Less than a percent...
Everyone lends if they have an extra penny, and so do you. And you gave us loans, and every day you say: “Look, these are parasites, we gave them loans.” So we pay you a billion dollars a year on all this interest. And the Americans give you ten million for two hundred billion dollars for ten billion, or how much you keep there, and it remains to be seen how this will turn out,” the President of the Republic of Belarus complained.
He also warned Belarusians about the fate of Ukraine, which was plunged into chaos and turned against fraternal Russia.
“We are not parasites or partners, as you usually say, and this just offends me. We are family people. We are ready to cooperate with you, we are doomed to live together, and we understand, no worse than you, that there [in the West] we are not welcome, we are not needed there, an example of this is Ukraine. We can simply be used against Russia, and very strongly. And we are tired of this use. Throughout our history, we were used somewhere, and they also whipped us so that we would run faster to where we don’t want to go. We are educated people, and we draw certain conclusions from this. So let's get together. We know that safety is sacred.
