Speaker of the State Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan Vladimir Konstantinov told reporters about this on Thursday in Simferopol.

“Yesterday a letter arrived in the mail from Kharkov from Berkut fighters. They ask us to provide them with political asylum,” he noted.

“We decided to ask for political asylum from you. We, 25 people, Berkut employees, are being persecuted in Ukraine, we are tortured if we go for interrogations. It’s impossible for us to live there anymore,” the Crimean speaker quoted the letter.

According to Vladimir Konstantinov, the authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan intend to facilitate the provision of shelter to Berkut fighters, reports TASS.
