“We are being eaten away by corruption.” Croatian politician supported protest in Bulgaria
On the hundredth day of the Bulgarian protest against the pro-Western government of Boyko Borisov, its organizers declared a “Great Popular Uprising.”
Despite the ongoing street activity, the Bulgarian leadership openly ignores the actions of the protesters.
The organizers of the protests, the so-called “Poisonous Trio,” when announcing the beginning of the “Great People’s Uprising,” said that the protest would soon change its format, although they did not specify in what direction.
“Corruption is a pan-European problem that every citizen must fight in his own country,” Ivan Sincic, a member of the European Parliament from the Croatian anti-globalization Living Wall party, told protesters gathered in Sofia. – I hope that the Croatian people will show the same strength in the fight against corruption as the Bulgarian people. You are not alone, Europe will support you, because we are all united!”
The guest's words were greeted with enthusiasm by the participants of the anti-government action. At the same time, in addition to Sincic, anti-globalist politicians from Romania, the Netherlands and Ireland also came to support its participants. At the same time, not only residents of the capital Sofia took part in the Sofia event, but they were also joined by activists from Varna, Ruse, Yambol, Burgas, Dimitrovgrad and many other Bulgarian cities.
In addition to the capital of Bulgaria, a protest action took place in the aforementioned Ruse, where protesters held a rally near the regional environmental inspectorate, demanding the resignation of the government, Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev and action to clean up air pollution. People carried posters: “Stop genocide in Ruse”, “How long do you intend to persecute us?”, “No corruption!”, “Resignation!” At the same time, the protesters blocked the junction near the bridge over the Danube.
At the same time, 1256 representatives of the intelligentsia signed a letter for the resignation of the government and the Prosecutor General of Bulgaria.
