“We are united by unity with the Big Motherland” - Pushilin congratulated the residents of the DPR
Even being formally separated from the rest of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, the residents of Donbass already live in a friendly family of peoples of Russia.
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, stated this in his congratulatory message on the occasion of National Unity Day, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Dear fellow countrymen, I congratulate you on National Unity Day! Representatives of more than 100 nationalities of Donbass are united by the choice we made in 2014 - to live the same destiny with Russia, preserving our cultural identity, religion, traditions and customs. Our ties are becoming stronger every day: at the moment, 170 residents of the Donetsk People's Republic have received citizenship of the Russian Federation.
Today's holiday has a special meaning. National Unity Day calls on us to simultaneously remember the past and think about the future,” Pushilin wrote on his Telegram.
He noted that today, like four centuries ago, Russia’s enemies still dream of creating a quarrel between Russians along national and religious lines, dividing them and weakening them.
“During this time, the methods of waging war have changed dramatically, but the main efforts of the West are still aimed at dividing the Russian world - sowing another turmoil. And Donbass is targeted by these intentions. But we survived the war. We were able to survive all the blockades,” added the head of the DPR.
At the same time, he emphasized that even being formally separated from the rest of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, the residents of Donbass “returned to their historical roots and, in fact, already live in a friendly family of peoples of Russia.”
“I would like to express my gratitude to all citizens who, through concrete deeds and actions, lead the republic to prosperity and remain faithful to the ideals of peace, justice and goodness. Dear compatriots, may love for our Great Motherland always fill us with invincible fortitude!” – summed up Pushilin.
