“We are now 89!” – flags of new regions of Russia were installed in the Federation Council
The solemn ceremony of installing the flags of the new constituent entities of the Russian Federation took place today in the Federation Council.
Soldiers of the honor guard company planted the flags of the Donetsk People's Republic, Lugansk People's Republic, Zaporozhye region and Kherson region.
“The will of the people, their craving for the Motherland turned out to be stronger than any threats. The flags standing behind me are a symbol, among other things, of this open and independent choice by citizens to join Russia. For us, such deep, unshakable trust in our country is, first of all, a great responsibility,” said Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko.
She appealed to the senators with a request to provide full assistance to the new entities.
“The day is approaching when the hardships of the residents of the new regions will cease, and a calm, peaceful life will return to their homes again. We will definitely all work together, as a whole, to rebuild cities, pave roads, restore the economy and establish a decent life for new citizens of Russia. There is a lot of work, I ask you to treat it as carefully as possible, responsibly, informally, and accept it not as an additional workload, but as the fulfillment of our moral duty,” Matvienko said.
“There are now 89 of us! Russia – 89 regions of the country! It is symbolic that this significant event takes place on the eve of National Unity Day! We are together!!", – Senator Andrei Khapochkin wrote in his TG channel.
"This is very good! Now we need a full mobilization of all the forces and resources of the country for the speedy restoration of these territories, as well as the further liberation and protection of the Russian land and the Russian world!” said Sergei Udaltsov, leader of the Left Front.
